Employee Appreciation Day is celebrated on the first Friday in March. It’s all about showing your employees that you appreciate the work that they do, and their continued efforts and loyalty.

Employees are the heart of any business. They keep it going, drive it forward and are on the front lines everyday servicing your clients and customers.

It’s important to show your employees that you appreciate them and their achievements.

Appreciation and engagement are connected. When employees feel valued and appreciated it improves how engaged they are in their job, increasing productivity.

How to celebrate

There are many ways to celebrate Employee Appreciation Day. This can vary from how big or small you want to do it.

Below are some great ways to show your appreciation and celebrate the day:

  • Thank you card or email.
  • Shout outs in front of other employees.
  • Flowers, chocolate or other small gifts.
  • Thank you breakfast or lunch brought in.
  • Gift cards or vouchers.
  • Early finishes.
  • Movie shown over lunch.
  • Games or activities.

Including everyone

It’s important to include all employees in Employee Appreciation Day, no matter how big or small their contributions are.

This includes those who are working from home. It’s more difficult to leave something on their desk or hand a small gesture to them, therefore it’s important to think of ways to include hybrid or home workers in your appreciation.

This could be sending cards via Moonpig or Funky Pigeon, shouting them out on zoom meetings or having flowers, chocolate or small gifts delivered to their homes. For smaller businesses, this could be delivered by a Director or Manager.
